One man rejected the offer of a home security monitoring system when a salesman came knocking on his door. Soon after, his residence was burglarized while he was away from home for a work commitment, Alaskan news source, the Peninsula Clarion reported.
The homeowner, Neil Robertson, already had a video surveillance system installed and believed that was all the home security he needed, according to the Peninsula Clarion. While the tapes may be helpful in identifying who the thieves are, they weren't able to alert authorities when the home invasion took place.
"Certainly a monthly service might have paid for itself," Robertson told the news source. "I consider myself pretty security conscious, but how far do you go?" The homeowner is now seriously considering making additions to his home security system.
Having a monitored home security device can alert law enforcement to home invasions as well as other incidents such as a potential fire.
