Security footage from the home was shown on several local television stations, prompting a number of area residents to call police.
When officers arrived at the house, they also recognized the suspect from the footage. In addition, police found numerous items from the burglary both inside the suspect's vehicle and pockets, more than a week after the original crime.
The suspect, 28-year-old Joshua Lowe, has been charged with burglary and stolen property charges, and was denied bail. Earlier reports on the burglary said that Lowe had made off with roughly $80,000 worth of jewelry and other items, including a gun.
The suspect certainly picked the wrong house to rob. KOVR-TV in Sacramento, California, reports that the homeowner whose house was broken into sells and installs home security cameras for a living.
