Four people were hurt in the incidents. Police told the station that the region has several neighborhood watch groups, and that they are hoping increased vigilance in home security monitoring will help deter future crimes.
"We always tell them to report any suspicious activity. In situations like this we will provide suspect information if any is given and ask them to look out and do what they do. Give us a call and report that information to 911," Fayetteville police Crime Prevention Specialist Michelle Lindo told the station.
The local police department has welcomed an increase in staffing levels, which it says have contributed to falling crime rates - although the city still has the second-highest crime rate in the region, the Fayetteville Observer reports. In 2009, the police department was fully-staffed for just one week all year.
