A police officer in Royersford, Pennsylvania, was on patrol when he heard the sound of a burglar alarm going off nearby and followed it back to a local business, where he saw broken glass in the parking lot. A suspect then walked out the front door carrying the store's cash register and merchandise at the same time the officer arrived.
"I identified myself and ordered the male to freeze, at which point the male tossed all of the items into the air and began to walk away," Officer Joseph P. Oberholtzer II wrote in a police filing, according to the Times-Herald.
The suspect was then arrested, and now faces multiple charges.
Police in the Pottstown, Pennsylvania, area have been cracking down on crime in recent months, and have seen a corresponding drop in serious crimes, according to the Pottstown Mercury. But at the same time, officers have also made an increasing number of arrests for crimes such as receiving stolen property, vandalism and drug violations.
