Most people get fed up with outrageous ATM fees, but one Florida man seems to have had enough. Security camera footage captured images of the unknown man bashing several ATMs at area banks with a sledgehammer.
Police released the security camera footage in the hopes that residents in the Ocoee area will come forward with information about the perpetrator. The man, described by police as being in his 20s or 30s and wearing a black leather jacket, sunglasses and dark pants in the video footage, smashed at least three ATMs between February 16 and February 20. The damage totals roughly $20,000, according to reports the Orlando Sentinel.
Theft does not appear to be the motive behind the crimes, according to local police. Security videos show the man approaching the ATMs, hitting them repeatedly with a sledgehammer and then driving away without attempting to steal the cash from inside. The crimes occurred at the SunTrust Bank and a Bank of America.
According to the most recent FBI data, there were 2,088 bank robberies in the first half of 2011, resulting in more than $15.3 million in stolen loot.
