Following a home invasion in the South Hills neighborhood of Charleston in West Virginia, police are searching for four suspects who allegedly shot and stabbed a man.
The home invasion took place around 7 p.m. on January 18. Four black males broke into a home wearing bandanas, looking for valuables.
"It appears four individuals broke in here, forced the residents to the floor in an attempted home invasion," Police Sergeant Bobby Eggleton told news sources. "Shots were fired. One person was shot in the leg."
The victim of the gunshot was 22-year-old Cabell Franklin, who also sustained stab wounds at the hands of the suspects.
Three of the intruders fled the scene of the crime in a vehicle and another fled on foot. Police organized a canine search, but didn't come up with any leads.
Authorities are uncertain if any items were stolen from the home, but are still collecting evidence they hope will lead to the arrest of the suspects.
West Virginia reported more than 10,700 burglaries in 2010, according to FBI statistics.
