Family with 'klepto cat' installs burglar alarm

After sneaking onto neighbors' properties and stealing more than 600 items from their homes and yards over the past few years, a cat named Dusty, who lives with its owners in San Mateo, California, may be done burglarizing homes.

Reportedly, the cat's owners installed a burglar alarm to alert neighbors should Dusty come home late at night with new stolen items.

The cat and its owners, Jean Chu and Jim Coleman, have become a national sensation for Dusty's after-hours criminal activities, but hope the feline stops taking their neighbors' belongings.

Kelly McLelland, a neighbor of Chu and Coleman's who has had several clothing items taken by Dusty, told ABC News in San Francisco that she's glad the cat now wears a bell, as everyone can now know where it is at all times.

"You can hear him. Even inside your house, you'll hear a bell ringing and you know he's in your backyard, or has just left your backyard with something," she said.
