Minutes after having their minivan stolen from them, victims in South Carolina notified police that their car dealer told them when they bought the vehicle that it was equipped with a GPS tracking device. After calling in the device number to the local police station, the van - along with the two burglars - were found, according to reports.
After arresting the thieves, authorities reportedly discovered stolen credit, gift and Social Security cards, as well as checks and a drug prescription. With the new evidence, sergeant Tony Tilley of the Anderson Police Department told NBC News in South Carolina that other crimes in the area may be solved soon by implicating the suspects. The news station states there are eight possible cases which could relate to the two burglars.
South Carolina police are not only cracking down on car thefts, but also home break-ins. According to WSOC-TV in Charlotte, three suspects were arrested in a string of home burglaries. Reportedly, the thieves targeted homes of people they knew.
