GPS tracking helps Pittsburgh police arrest car thief

Though initially upset that his car was stolen as he went inside a convenience store to grab a cup of coffee, Pittsburgh resident David Frollini quickly alerted police about the incident - as well as his car's GPS tracking system. After authorities located the car with help from the GPS, the suspect was apprehended, reports WPXI-TV.

"It provided a certain amount of information in this case that may have otherwise gone unsolved," McCandless police chief Gary Anderson told the news station regarding the effectiveness of the GPS tracking.

According to the report, police were able to catch the suspect shortly after the theft, and Frollini had his car returned later that same day. Frollini told the news station he was very appreciative for the police effort to track down the suspect.

In addition to local authorities catching the car thief, WXAE-TV reports Pittsburgh-area police have arrested and charged five men with more than 1,000 counts of burglary, theft and grand larceny. The station reports the men stole from upper-class neighborhoods and took high-priced valuables, as well as vehicles.
