A home security surveillance camera is thought to be the hero in a foiled home invasion in Elk Grove, California.
Sheldon SooHoo's Elk Grove home was robbed before, which prompted him to invest in a home security system, ABC affiliate KXTV reported.
SooHoo was at work December 13 when he received an e-mail alert from his home surveillance system that showed an image of someone standing at his front door, the source reported. The movement at the door triggered the system to send Soohoo an alert that also showed him that the side fence door was open.
"I came home and then after I came home, I did a walk-through and looked around the house for any sign of entry or any broken windows," SooHoo told the source. "Everything was still intact."
According to KXTV, a man in a white shirt approached the home at around 8:56 a.m. and rang the doorbell. After not getting an answer he went around the back of the house and a second man approached the front door. When the suspect who went to the back door saw there was a camera recording him, he allegedly went back to the front and left with who SooHoo believes was his partner in crime.
Elk Grove reported 653 burglaries in 2010, according to FBI statistics.
