Police officers and detectives in Ballwin, Missouri, will be hosting a seminar geared toward helping local residents improve their home security.
The event, titled "Building on Home Safety," will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at a local Lowe's hardware store on February 25. Officers will discuss ways to identify areas of the home that are vulnerable to break-ins, as well as ways to make those areas less obvious to criminals.
"In many instances, it is as easy as making sure your home’s exterior doors are solid and provide resistance from a would-be intruder," Ballwin Police Chief Steve Schicker said.
Shicker indicated that the seminar was prompted by "recent events that have occurred in the metropolitan area." Ballwin is a western suburb of St. Louis.
St. Louis County police recently announced that crime rates in the area have dipped to a 40-year low, reported the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
