A burglar was recently caught on a home security camera stealing a package from a San Diego residence in University Heights.
The victim is now hoping that the surveillance cameras he recently installed give police information that leads to an arrest, according to local CNN affiliate 10News.
The source reported that the victim came home to find a FedEx sticker on the door, but the thief had already stolen his package, which was a Christmas present from his sister.
The man told the source he just had the video surveillance system installed after he had been burglarized earlier in the year. According to FedEx officials, the driver who delivered the package was unaware that he was being followed.
"Our personnel are trained to remain alert to spot suspicious activity if somebody's following them," FedEx corporate communications specialist Scott Fiedler told the source. "Our team members have the authority to not deliver shipments if the area is unsafe."
A recent home invasion in San Diego led to a mother and daughter being tied up while burglars took their valuables.
