Texan seeks justice after theft caught on tape

A Houston man is looking to get some satisfaction after catching a home invasion on his brand new security cameras, according to local reports.

The burglary took place on January 26, not long after Rey Herrera installed his home security video system outside his house. The thief was taped checking out the house, entering the premises, and then leaving with some of Herrera's most valuable possessions, according to Houston NBC affiliate KPRC.

The stolen items include a laptop computer, a 9mm handgun, jewelry and watches, and a video camera. While the local police still do not have a suspect, Herrera has some suspicions of his own, telling the news source that he suspects a 17- or 18-year-old high school student may be to blame.

The city of Houston experienced 9,152 non-violent crimes during December 2011, including 2,598 instances of theft and 5,490 instances of burglary, according to Houston Police Department statistics.
