Police in Marysville, California, were able to catch a suspected burglar by using the GPS tracking system installed on the vehicle that he stole, the Appeal-Democrat reports.
According to the paper, an area resident returned home to find that their vehicle had been stolen, along with a large amount of property.
"The suspect ... apparently loaded the stolen property into a vehicle parked in the home's garage and took the car using the car keys ... found in the home," Marysville detective Kevin Conde told the paper.
Once the report was called in, police activated the GPS tracking, and found the vehicle parked outside the home in which the suspect was hiding in the next town over. After obtaining a search warrant, officers found the suspect, a 35-year-old man, hiding in the attic.
Police also told the Appeal-Democrat that they suspect the same man is responsible for another attempted burglary in the area earlier this month. In that incident, the suspect fled after burglar alarms installed at the home went off during the attempt.
