Protect America firmly believes that having a monitored home security system is the best solution for keeping your home and family safe. Our mission is to make home security affordable for every American family and that is why we offer flexible solutions to meet your needs.
With today's changing communications technology, Protect America recognizes the need for flexible home security system monitoring solutions. We are proud to offer the option of Broadband Monitoring Service or Standard Monitoring Service with our security systems. Read below for more information about the different types of service.
Now you can upgrade our standard talking command station to the GE Simon XT. This command station has all the same features of the standard command station and features an attractive new design and the ability to control 16 more zones than the standard command station for a total of 40 zones. Every individual device on your alarm system – window sensors, door sensors, motion detectors, talking keypads, etc. – creates a zone. The XT command station is perfect for larger homes that need more than the standard 24 zones, and can save you the expensive of having to purchase a second command station.
All of our security system packages include a standard talking command station which uses your landline telephone connection to communicate with our monitoring facility. Anytime the security system is triggered, the command station sends a signal through the landline phone to our monitoring facility and notifies us about a problem in your home.
Depending on the nature of the problem, our monitoring facility will respond to your alarm and dispatch the emergency authorities to your home if necessary. Please visit the How It Works page to learn more on the steps we take when responding to an alarm at your home.
Protect America offers Two-way Voice Monitoring Service with our GE security system. This service allows our monitoring center to communicate with you directly when you need it most.
When the alarm is triggered at your home, the security system uses your landline phone to send the signal to our monitoring facility. Once we have received that signal, our monitoring facility will be able to communicate with you directly through the talking command station to verify the problem and respond accordingly.
Two-Way Voice Monitoring Service comes with the GE Simon XT talking command station and requires a landline telephone connection.
No Phone, No Problem! Protect America is proud to offer our HomePulse Broadband Monitoring service with our home security system. Now you can connect your security system directly into an available port on your modem or router to provide your home and family with protection 24 hours, 7 days a week.
With HomePulse, anytime the alarm is triggered, your security system sends the signal through your broadband Internet connection and notifies our monitoring facility of the problem at your house. The HomePulse Broadband Monitoring Service provides your security system with a much faster connection to the monitoring facility and is capable of notifying us of a problem at least four times faster than a landline connection.
HomePulse requires an equipment upgrade from the standard command station. HomePulse is not compatible with the GE Simon XT command station. The presence of a Broadband Internet connection and an available port from a router or modem is necessary.
With our Cellular monitoring solution we offer true flexibility for home security monitoring service. There is no need for any type of home phone service or internet connection, because with cellular monitoring our GE home security system will have a dedicated wireless connection between your home and our central monitoring facility.
When you select our Cellular monitoring service you will receive an upgraded GE Simon XT command station with a built-in GSM cellular device. You simply plug the command station into a power outlet and everything else is completely wireless. This service is not available in all areas and requires adequate cellular phone coverage in your area.
In the past, the only option for monitoring a home security system was through a telephone line. While this is a reliable option that many customers still use, there are a growing number of households that, for one reason or the other, are choosing not to install landline telephone service. According to the consumer expenditure survey (Bureau of Labor Statistics), at the end of 2005, 6.7% of households did not have landline telephone service. Protect America recognizes the different needs of it's customers by offering 3 different monitoring options to choose from.
Landline - With landline monitoring, the security system in the home communicates to the monitoring facility through the telephone line. This is the original way to monitor a home security system and for most companies, still the only option offered to customers. When the perimeter of any protected zone is breached, an alarm sounds and the security system sends a signal through the phone line to the monitoring facility. If the monitoring facility determines that there is an emergency, the local authorities are contacted.
Broadband - Broadband monitoring is perfect for customers who use cell phones as a primary source of contact because with this option, a landline telephone is not a requirement. The master control panel of the security system plugs into an available port on your modem or router instead of a telephone line in order to connect the home and the monitoring facility. When the perimeter of any protected zone is breached, an alarm sounds and the security system sends a signal through the Broadband Internet connection to the monitoring facility. If the monitoring facility determines that there is an emergency, the local authorities are contacted.
Two-way voice - The final option for monitoring your security system is called two-way voice. With two-way voice, the command station for the security system acts as an intercom that connects the household directly to the monitoring facility through the telephone line. When an alarm goes off, instead of calling over the phone, the monitoring facility can speak directly over the intercom to check on the situation. If there is an emergency, the monitoring facility contacts the local authorities.
