  • Man arrested in burglary wanted on Illinois murder warrant

February 09, 2007 (Cedar Rapids, IA) – A man arrested in connection with a series of burglaries in Linn County was also arrested on an Illinois warrant charging him with first-degree murder.

Kendrick Butler, 20, of Cedar Rapids, was being held Friday in the Linn County jail awaiting extradition to Illinois.

Officials with the Linn County sheriff's office said an investigation identified Butler as a suspect in burglaries in Linn County and Mount Vernon since Jan. 24.

No other information on the charge out of Cook County, Ill., was available.

A second person, Eric Wicks, 18, of Cedar Rapids, also was arrested as a result of the burglary investigation. He was charged with possession of stolen property and for being an accessory after the fact.
