  • Teen pleads guilty to burglary; placed on probation

June 06, 2007 (Jefferson City, MO) – A Jefferson City man pleaded guilty in connection with two burglary cases in January.

Monday, Cole County Presiding Judge Pat Joyce placed Morgan Carpenter, 19, on five years of supervised probation.

He was charged with second-degree burglary.

According to police, Carpenter admitted to breaking into Tambke Auto Sales on St. Louis Road, Jan. 4, and trying to remove several items. He also admitted attempting to break into Casey's General Store on Eastland, across from Tambke's.

Around 6:46 a.m., the owner of Tambke's reported that when he opened the business, he was confronted by someone inside. The owner then parked his vehicle in front of the back door of the building in an effort to keep the person inside.

But before officers could arrive, Carpenter was able to get out of the building. A perimeter was established and a search of the area was conducted.

Eventually, Carpenter was spotted and officers chased him on foot before capturing him in the 100 block of North Garfield at about 7:30 a.m.
