June 06, 2007 (Iowa City, IA) – Police are looking for a man who allegedly broke into a woman's home and assaulted her early this morning.

The 50-year-old woman, whose identity was not released by police this morning, told police she woke just before 4 a.m. to find an intruder in her house at 13 Jema Court.

The man assaulted her, tied her up and left, she told police. By 6:21 a.m., she was able to free herself and called 911, said Iowa City Police Department Sergeant Troy Kelsay.

The woman was transported to University Hospitals with obvious injuries, Kelsay said. He did not have information this morning about the injuries or nature of the assault.

Police are looking for a black male in his early 20s, who may be wearing a light-colored shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes. Kelsay said officers are canvassing the neighborhood, all investigators are working on the case and additional officers may be called in to help secure the crime scene.
