  • Suspects Sought in Home Invasion

November 7, 2005 (New Bedford, MA) – A 44-year-old man was shot in the face and stabbed several times early Saturday in what police are describing as a home invasion. Lt. Richard M. Spirlet, public information officer for the New Bedford Police Department, said three armed suspects forcibly entered a home at 96 Clark St. and shot and stabbed the victim. The suspects spoke Spanish and their faces were concealed by masks, according to police. Police didn't identify the victim. Lt. Spirlet said first aid was administered and the victim was taken to St. Luke's Hospital and then transferred to a Boston trauma center because of the serious nature of his injuries. No additional information was available yesterday from police. Lt. Spirlet said police recovered a firearm from the scene. Police said they received a 911 call about 12:45 a.m. regarding the incident. Lt. Spirlet said officers spoke to several people at the house.

New Bedford detectives are investigating the incident. Police are asking anyone with information to contact detectives at (508) 991-6320 or the anonymous tip line at (508) 961-4584.
