  • Boy arrested after attempted home invasion

July 23, 2007 (Hartland Township, MI) – A 16-year-old was arrested after allegedly attempting to break into a Hartland Township home early Sunday morning.

At about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, police responded to 1280 Courtney Court for a call about an attempted home invasion. Police were told a male had ripped open a screen and was opening a bathroom window waking the homeowner, according to a news release from the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.

Upon investigation, the homeowner observed the teen's arm in the window and yelled, startling the teen, who then dropped to the ground and ran through the Hartland Glen Golf Course.

Livingston County deputies, using the department's K-9 tracking dog, were able to locate the teen at a residence also in Hartland Township about 1 1/2 miles from the scene. The juvenile suspect is being detained in the Washtenaw County Youth Center pending a hearing in Livingston County Juvenile Court today.
