  • Man waives burglary charges to court

January 31, 2006 (Uniontown, PA) – An 18-year-old Georges Township man waived his right to a preliminary hearing on burglary charges state police filed against him for allegedly breaking into his former wrestling coach's home Thursday.

Allen Richard Myers of 160 Club York Road waived his hearing Monday into charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property before Magisterial District Judge Randy Abraham.

The case against Myers will be forwarded to Fayette County Court, where he will have a trial or accept a plea agreement.

Joe Walter Embacher of Zebley Road, Georges Township, told police his home was burglarized the week before Myers broke in and $250 and a video camera were stolen, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Embacher said he planted a video camera by his front door just in case it happened again, police said.

On Thursday, his wife left the house at 12:15 p.m. and noticed someone had been inside after she returned at 1 p.m., police said.

The couple looked at the videotape and it showed Myers rifling through drawers and other property, police said.

Myers allegedly stole a $100 diamond bracelet and $900, police said.

They called police, played the tape for them and Joe Embacher, a schoolteacher, said he knew Myers because he coached him in wrestling, police said.
