  • Man Found In Chimney Pleads Not Guilty To Burglary Charge

August 29, 2007 (West Covina, CA) – An alleged prowler who got stuck in a chimney at a West Covina home early Sunday pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a burglary charge.

Marco Espinoza, 35, was jailed on $50,000 bail pending his next appearance Sept. 12 at the West Covina courthouse. He faces a felony charge of first-degree burglary with a person present.

Espinoza was arrested shortly after 4:45 a.m. Sunday, after being rescued from the chimney following a nearly four-hour effort by firefighters.

He allegedly told police he was doing construction on the house.

One of the home's residents, Danny Ramos, told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune hat he heard noises coming from the chimney and heard the man saying, "Help me, help me."
