Are you thinking of canceling your Titan Alarm contract? It’s not a bad idea; Titan Alarm is one of the lowest rated major alarm companies. Founded in 2008, it regularly gets sub-par reviews, often averaging a user rating of about 4.5 out of 10 on user review sites. But most alarm systems come with contracts, contracts that you need to break. What can you do?
What is an Alarm Contract?
First you should be aware of what an alarm contract really is. In general, a company is subsidizing the cost of your equipment or the cost of your installation in return for you obligating yourself to use their service, generally anywhere from 12 to 36 months. If you haven’t gotten a discount on installation or equipment, there’s no reason you should have a contract; the contract is meant to ensure that they aren’t losing money on your setup fees.
The louder you are, the more chance there is the alarm company forcing you to continue with your contract that you’re unhappy with will let you out of your contract.
These contracts can usually be transferred if you move, though there may be some moving or installation fee. But the most important thing you should be aware of is that an alarm contract requires that the other party fulfill their side of the contract. If you want to break your contract with Titan Alarm, it’s very likely that it’s because Titan Alarm isn’t giving you something that you need. Thus, they’ve already broken your contract.
Getting Out of Your Alarm Contract
- Check your contract date. All contracts are different; you may even find that your contract is either almost over or already over. Read it carefully to find out if there’s any fine print or anything about cancellation.
- Make a list of why you’re unhappy with the service. Contact Titan Alarm and let them know exactly why you want to cancel. Be direct in requesting a cancellation without any cancellation fees.
- If they refuse, you may need to pay the penalty to get out of the contract. But depending on your Titan contract, you may actually be able to save money by switching to a less expensive security provider.
