Point Secured is a Texas-based home security company. It was started in 2007 and since then, they have been providing security systems for homes and small businesses around Texas. They currently serve a relatively small area, catering to Texas cities like Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. While they do carry the same excellent equipment that Protect America provides, Point is a smaller, less experienced company with a much smaller service range and higher prices.

Pricing and Contract Information

Despite the fact that Point Secured does not have any pricing information on their website, we called them to find out more information. In a conversation I had with one of the representatives about their base package, I found out that their contracts are 36 months long. This is standard for most home security companies. They charge $39.99 a month for monitoring in their very cheapest package. This is pretty high compared to a more affordable home security option, like Protect America. At Protect America, you can get monitoring for as low as $19.99 a month with no up-front costs. Additionally, Point Secured generally has a no up-front cost policy, but if you do not currently own your home the offer does not apply to you. If you are renting your property, Point Secured will charge you $299 to get everything up and running in addition to the monthly monitoring fee. At Protect America, it doesn’t matter to us if you are a renter or a homeowner, all our equipment and installation is free. We’ll cater to your needs in the most affordable way possible!

Real Customer Reviews

Unfortunately, there are some people out there who feel like Point Secured did not do a very good job providing them with home security. For example, this recent customer review stated:

I was one to support my local business, but not if they are going to nickel and dime us. Surprised at how much we are paying for so little. Read the fine line and skip this one, folks.

Another customer had issues with the equipment and service charges added when he experiences problems only a week after signing up for Point. Here is a section of the review:

Problem with controlling PTZ cameras and also noticed one window breakage sensor missing. Point Security came out to look at it and CHARGED me for the service call. I was quite upset on asking for $ for warranty or service within a week.

Local versus National

Local companies might seem like the better option, but often times the situation will prove otherwise with certain subjects, like home security. While Point only caters to some areas in Texas, with a 3-year contract you might need to move out of Texas at some point. Consider a company that can service you anywhere in the United States and Canada! Protect America serves all 50 states and more.

Not all alarm companies are equal when it comes to the quality and skill they promise. If you’re reading reviews, you’ve probably been shopping around and comparing your security options in attempt to find the best quality deal for your dollar. However, did you think to compare the size of the alarm companies you’re considering? In the home security industry, scale and experience are important factors when choosing the best company to rely on for the protection of your home and family. In many cases, large companies try to adopt a one-size-for-all model. However, Protect America is different. Protection isn’t a homogenized need. Your home needs different safeguards than a small business, and national home security companies offer more specialized products and options than the local installer.

A common misconception about home security is that going with a local alarm company is better. Many think that since there is a home security company locally, there is a local monitoring facility as well. In reality, when you sign up with a local home security company they install it, and it ends up being monitored by a national monitoring facility.

Experience and Stability

Choosing a national home security company means choosing experience and stability. If the local guys go out of business, what do you end up with? No service, no warranty, and a lot of wasted timeProtect America has a long 20 year history, a large customer base, and a wealth of experience. Whatever your needs, we can help you.
