Safe Touch is based in Jacksonville, Florida. While Safe Touch has been in business for about 20 years, they service a very small area. Safe Touch is not a national company and is only able to provide services to five cities within Florida and Georgia. While their equipment is high quality, they fall short in areas such as customer service, misleading advertisement, and pricing.

Contract Misconceptions

One major red flag from Safe Touch is their requirement for customers to prepay their 36-month agreement in order to qualify for the $29.95 monthly pricing. While their website and advertising claims to provide a 36-month contract for monitoring, many consumers have reported differently.

The presentation was structured such that the length of the commitment appeared to be 36 months. Upon installation of the alarm system and a thorough reading of the contract I realized that the length of the contract is actually 5 years, not 36 months!

This customer had the same issue:

Then they told me I had signed a 5 year contract not a 3 year. I argued with them and told them everything I had signed said 36 months.

And yet another example of misleading messages from Safe Touch.

I am in a similar situation where the sales person tells me that its a 3 year contract and then it when I try to cancel they are telling me I’m in a 5 year contract.

There are many other consumers who were told they would be entering a 3-year contract, when in reality they signed a 60-month contract. The misleading manner of Safe Touch’s advertising reflects poorly on the company’s integrity, making them very difficult to trust. Consider a home security company you can trust wholeheartedly. Protect America provides clear guidelines of what is to be expected from our services. We provide all the help, equipment, and resources you need to easily protect your home.

They Want Your Money

Safe Touch specifically makes it difficult for you to cancel services. Most companies will do some type of automatic renewal of your agreement if you do not submit a written cancellation notice within 30 days of wanting to cancel, similar to an apartment lease. However, at Safe Touch your contract will automatically renew for another 24 months. And if you do not cancel on time after the first renewal phase, it will renew once again for another 24 months. With a company that apparently has a 60-month contract, you could potentially be stuck with their services for 9 years! That’s thousands of dollars in additional billing. At Protect America, we honor your decision to cancel any type of services. If you forget to cancel, the automatic cycle will only renew your agreement for another month. You can continue to monitor your home on a month-to-month basis once you have completed your agreement or even re-sign for a lower rate

Local vs. National

Not all alarm companies are equal when it comes to the quality and skill they promise. A common misconception about home security is that going with a local alarm company is better. Many think that since there is a home security company locally, there is a local monitoring facility as well. In reality, when you sign up with a local home security company they install it, and it ends up being monitored by a national monitoring facility. Choosing a national home security company means choosing experience and stability. If the local guys go out of business, what do you end up with? No service, no warranty, and a lot of wasted time.

Safe Touch also advertises monthly monitoring for about $30 a month if credit checks out. The customer must also pre-pay for a portion of the contract. For those of you who live inside or even outside the five cities that Safe Touch services, consider more affordable and reliable alternatives such as Protect America. At Protect America, monitoring starts as low as $19.99 and equipment is free. All equipment comes with a lifetime warranty and your monthly monitoring rates are locked-in for life. Protect America believes in protecting you, your home, and your family with trusted, easy-to-use 24/7 home security monitoring.
