With SXSW heating up and hundreds of thousands of people streaming into Austin, local news team KXAN took an in-depth look at crime during the festival. We wrote earlier this week about staying safe at music festivals. We’re not the only ones talking about SXSW safety.
KXAN, a local Austin news station, noticed that violent crimes and property crimes sharply increased during March. In the story, they report that
A KXAN analysis of monthly police records shows March of last year saw a roughly 50 percent increase in violent crimes and property crime cases downtown compared to the monthly average for 2015. That includes nearly 290 cases of theft downtown and 19 aggravated assaults.
The news station asked Protect America to appear in the story as the security expert.
