Just when you think you’ve heard it all, the world figures out a way to surprise you.
No matter who you are or where you live, burglary is a real threat. This definitely applies if you have a three-story closet filled with millions of dollars’ worth in clothes and jewelry. One Houston, Texas woman’s “she-cave” has been the subject of much discussion in the past – perhaps for its extravagance, perhaps because it’s many women’s dream closet.
This publicity may have backfired, however, since the infamous she-cave has just been targeted by a burglar.
The amazing part…
An estimated $1 Million in jewelry and designer handbags was taken when the victim and her husband stepped out for dinner and didn’t arm their security system. Like something out of a heist movie, the suspect gained entry to the home by removing glass from a bathroom window. He or she spent around 40 minutes selecting the most expensive items and stuffing three $60,000 luxury handbags with gem-studded jewelry and designer watches.
- Many burglaries are crimes of opportunity. Windows and doors are left unlocked, garage doors are left open, etc. Lock up and arm your security system – even if you’re walking down the street.
- Under ten minutes is all they need. Many people don’t fully arm their homes when running a quick errand or leaving for dinner. Running to the grocery store for flour will easily leave your house vulnerable! Take precautions every time you step out.
- Connected is protected! Did you know your home can text you during an emergency? It’s true. Many interactive security technologies not only reach out to professional monitoring stations, they will alert your smartphone immediately. This can shorten your reaction time and make all the difference during a break-in.
