At Protect America, we’ve put together a list of the 10 cities in Missouri with the lowest burglary rates.

We call these cities “Burglary Safe Zones.” We’ve also made a list of the 10 cities in Missouri with the highest burglary rates. We call these cities “Burglary Hot Spots.”

Our lists are based on data from the recent FBI Uniform Crime Report. We only counted cities that submitted burglary data.

2016 Missouri Burglary Safe Zones

  1. Kahoka
    • Population 2,042, Burglaries 1
    • Town trivia: Kahoka is the county seat of Clark County.
  2. Warson Woods
    • Population 1,956, Burglaries 1
    • Town trivia: The U.S. Census Bureau reports that Warson Woods has a total area of 0.58 miles.
  3. Memphis
    • Population 1,840, Burglaries 1
    • Town trivia: The Pheasant Aircraft Company started in Memphis in the 1920’s.
  4. Holts Summit
    • Population 3,590, Burglaries 2
    • Town trivia: Holts Summit was incorporated in 1973.
  5. Gallatin
    • Population 1,747, Burglaries 1
    • Town trivia: The city was named after Albert Gallatin, who was America’s longest-serving Secretary of the Treasury.
  6. Weston
    • Population 1,731, Burglaries 1
    • Town trivia: Weston is the world’s leading producer of twist tobacco, and the McCormick Distilling Company is based in the city, which is the oldest distillery west of the Mississippi River and the oldest continuously operated distillery in the country.
  7. Portageville
    • Population 3,137, Burglaries 2
    • Town trivia: It has two dates of settlement, 1807 and 1848. Some believe it was originally settled in 1807 before an earthquale took it out, then resettled in 1848.
  8. Smithville
    • Population 9,278, Burglaries 6
    • Town trivia: Originally named “Smith’s Mill” after Humphrey “Yankee” Smith settled the site in 1822.
  9. Belle
    • Population 1,533, Burglaries 1
    • Town trivia: The Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad depot was located in Belle, so it was often referred to as Rock Island.
  10. Winfield
    • Population 1,430, Burglaries 1
    • Town trivia: The town was originally incorporated in 1882 and named “The Inhabitants of the Town of Winfield.”

  1. Bel-Ridge
    • Population 2,721, Burglaries 85
    • Town trivia: Bel-Ridge didn’t become a city until 2014. It was previously a village.
  2. Kinloch
    • Population 299, Burglaries 8
    • Town trivia: Kinloch claims to have the smallest police department in the state with only 60 sworn in officers.
  3. Beverly Hills
    • Population 567, Burglaries 15
    • Town trivia: The United States Census reported that Beverly Hills’ population was 574 in 2010.
  4. Country Club Hills
    • Population 1,270, Burglaries 31
    • Town trivia: Country Club Hills uses an automated traffic enforcement system to enforce the traffic laws in the city.
  5. Flordell Hills
    • Population 815, Burglaries 19
    • Town trivia: The United States Census reports that the city has a total area of 0.11 square miles.
  6. Branson
    • Population 11,517, Burglaries 222
    • Town trivia: Due to its entertainment theatres, Branson is a popular tourist attraction.
  7. Riverview
    • Population 2,835, Burglaries 53
    • Town trivia: This is a neighborhood that adjoins St. Louis.
  8. Ash Grove
    • Population 1,471, Burglaries 26
    • Town trivia: Ma Barker, the notorious mother of a gang of criminals called the Barker Gang is from Ash Grove.
  9. Ferguson
    • Population 21,059, Burglaries 366
    • Town trivia: Ferguson was home to the first railroad station that connected to St. Louis.
  10. Caruthersville
    • Population 5,931, Burglaries 94
    • Town trivia: Comedian Cedric the Entertainer is from Caruthersville.
