Protect America Employees Donate to SafePlace
On Friday January 10, 2014, Protect America Inc. employees donated to SafePlace, a charity located in Austin, TX whose mission is to end domestic violence against women through safety training, healing, prevention and social change. Protect America employees gathered household goods, canned goods and other items that would help women in crisis. Forty years ago, women’s advocates in Austin saw a need to support women in the community who had experienced sexual and domestic violence. Within a few short years the Austin Rape Crisis Center (1974) and Center for Battered Women (1977), the first rape crisis center and the first shelter in Texas respectively, opened their doors.
SafePlace has teamed up with many important organizations including Austin Children’s shelter. SafePlace continues to provide safety, healing, prevention and change for victims of abuse.
