If you want to save on electricity while keeping your home  cool, cozy and comfy, a smart thermostat might be exactly what you need. Smart thermostats are designed to keep your home at exactly the right temperature for you, while also learning how to best adjust their temperature throughout the day.

Smart thermostats have been a hit in the market for many customers, because they not only a regulate an everyday appliance that can cause stress— but these devices can also save money on an appliance that is often very cost heavy.

An easy way to get a smart thermostat is to integrate it directly with Google Home. There are a number of thermostats that can use Google Home as a hub. Here are three of the best.

IoT

1. Emerson Sensi-Touch

The Emerson Sensi-Touch makes it easy for you to control the temperature in your home, either through your smartphone or through a voice-activated device like the Google Home. Not only is it easy to install, but it’s also one of the more affordable options. The Emerson Sensi-Touch is the best choice if you want something simple and easy to use, and you don’t want to invest a lot of time trying to figure out different types of integration.

2. ecobee4

The ecobee4 is a complicated, sophisticated thermostat option, that comes backed with a ton of features. A little more expensive than the Emerson Sensi-Touch, the ecobee4 includes:

  • Easy installation even without a c-wire (which is commonly required for a thermostat).
  • The abiliy to control your HVAC system from anywhere through your smart devices.
  • A full touch screen which allows for manual control of many setting.
  • Geo-fencing which can detect whether you’re at home, and modes that can tell when you’re asleep.
  • A slick design that may or may not fit in with your home.

What are the downsides for the ecobee4? In general, the ecobee4 is a robust system, but it’s also designed for use with the Alexa rather than with Google Home. Because of that, some of the systems may be a little harder to use. It still does have Google Home support, but it is through an additional app.

3. Nest

Nest is one of the cornerstone brands when it comes to smart thermostat technology. Nest doesn’t just schedule your thermostat, but can actually learn about your usage and your energy efficiency. Nest also has a whole host of other technologies, spanning the gamut from fire alarms to doorbell video.

Home-Burglary-Cost

Through Google Home, Nest can be used to completely control your HVAC system. You can log onto your computer or your table to see how much energy you’re using, and you can set your HVAC system on a schedule depending on when you’re at work or sleeping. Nest also provides geo-location functionality, so you can program your home to warm up or cool down as you head home.

Nest is a little more costly than some of the other options, but it’s possible to create a complete, integrated, and modular system through Google Home with Nest products. On the other hand, if you only want a smart thermostat alone, it may be overkill.

Not sure which smart thermostat is right for you? Ultimately it’s going to depend on all of your needs — not just your thermostat, but also the security system you want. For more information, contact Protect America.
