The Austin Police Department and Home Security Company Protect America, Inc. Partner to Combat Burglary

Protect America to Present APD Officials with $15,000 Check to Boost Funding

Austin, Texas -- July 15, 2014 – Austin-based home security firm Protect America has joined with the Austin Police Department’s (APD) Burglary Unit in a commitment to fight burglary in Travis County. The company will present officers with a $15,000 check on (date, time and location). The funds will be used to supply detectives with high tech equipment and aid in confidential operations.

The APD’s ongoing anti-burglary campaign involves classified procedures designed to apprehend seasoned offenders and highly-valued targets. The sensitive nature of these strategies is due to current and future investigations dependent upon them. Among the items selected by the Burglary Unit’s technology authorities are powerful laptops and technology used to make investigations more efficient.

“The APD Burglary Unit is committed to its mission – identifying and arresting those responsible for breaking into homes and businesses in the Austin area,” said Assistant Chief Troy Gay. “The type of equipment that we are able to purchase with these donated funds will act as a force multiplier and it will help us with achieving our mission.”

The APD Burglary unit, since its inception in 2010, has arrested more than 2,600 suspected criminals. According to Cityrating.com, the 2014 projected burglary cases reports for Austin will surpass 9,500. "The goal of the Burglary Unit is to increase case clearance levels by solving more cases, to recover stolen property and to return the property back to the rightful owners," said Lieutenant Art Arevalo.

Protect America CEO and Founder Thad Paschall said the company is honored to support APD. “If you’ve ever been a victim of burglary, you know how terrible it is,” He said. “These officers work every day to fight those who would violate our homes and do us harm, and we’re honored to support them.”
